I'd be surprised if it causes a problem once fitted. As long as it balances up no problem I don't think I'd worry too much about it.

Is this acceptable for a new tyre? Can't say I've noticed it on any others (I'm fairly new to fitting my own tyres) but this is a 295/20 so quite big-ish.

There probably isn't supposed to be, they often get trimmed off.There don't seam to be any of the little nibs on the tread portion ?
