New to tig

it's a bit late! it was only a pedal i was making for the tig just a simple on/off, but i need to know why i'm blowing holes,

Blowing or melting?

Too many amps, or travelling too slow?

Is that really 10 amps?! It certainly doesn't look like it.

What sort of thickness is that? And how good was the fit-up? It's easy with bad fitup to blow even bigger holes.

What machine are you using?

yeah mate it's turned right down. it's 1mm thick nice and tight wiped with acetone to clean, it's a cheap ebay TIG

That might be part of your problem - filler wire will soak some of the heat.

It's hard to say though, without seeing your set in action - it could be your minimum current is something like 50 amps in reality - china specials have wildly inaccurate readouts and specifications sometimes . Not sure why you're burning out gas lenses though.

I got the 10amps from my clamp meter cos I don't trust the machine, oh I haven't done the gas lense I was just wondering how long they last before they need replacing
