Little update. Haven't had much time for playing with this lot in the past week but managed a bit of time this evening. This is probably my best Ali weld so far, aside from the black soot. I don't know why I'm getting that soot on the start of every weld because I'm pre flowing for a good second or more before initiating the arc and I'm starting the arc at 5 amps and building up with the pedal before moving.
This was making a steel standoff by welding 2 plates together. Didn't come out bad.
This was some stainless I did, I little disappointed with the lack of colour. It's got a very slight goldish red tint but I was hoping for better. I think this means too much heat or too much angle? Or maybe both?
All in all, I'm much preferring it to MIG welding. I'm finding it a lot nicer and easier to control the puddle and the form of the weld.
