Hello to you all first off. I Have just completed a weeks welding course, learnt to weld stick and gas as an apprentice and have done the odd bit of stick welding over the last 10 or so years on and off and not to the highest of standards (little portable no good thing haha). Have always enjoyed welding but never knew any in depth knowledge as far as settings, applications go etc and wanted to learn more about MIG and TIG welding. So put myself on a weeks welding course through work. Had basically one to one tutition for 5 days, had about two and half days on MIG and TIG. Will probably go back and do the basic exam for MIG welding, could have passed it but wanted to do TIG aswell and 5 days just isnt enough as wanted a couple of days on TIG.
Have to say though have developed a taste for the art of TIG welding with stainless. Could highly recommend a course for anybody starting in welding as been in the engineering business can see in a few years a shortage of skilled welders.
If anybody can tell me how to post a pic on here, I will put up a couple of pics of my first real TIG welding in mild and stainless steel. If anybody is intrested.
The one thing that did surprise me though in this day and age of health and safty was that the only videos explaining welding etc the guy could get were over 20 years old as they dont make them anymore.
Ayway just though i would say hi.
regards to all
Charles
