new to mig welding

hi i`m looking to buy a mig welder in the next week or 2 as i have some welding to do on my land rover discovery (few holes in the chassis and body) and a few other stuff so i am looking at a Wolf Mig 140 Gas/No Gas Mig welder + kit or MIG-200COMO thing is i do tend to get the bigger stuff so i dont work it as hard main thing is will they run off 230v house mains work or will i have to up the trip swich in the fuse box

Welcome to the forum, my first advice for you is do NOT buy the Wolf, I owned one and it was a total pile of rubbish.
If the budget allows get a Clarke 150 amp, about as good a hobby welder as you will find.

I've never used a Wolf Mig before, so I don't know how awful they are, but as far as I can gather, they're REALLY awful.
As CumbriaSteve says, get a Clarke 150. I've never used one of those either, but plenty of guys here really rate them very highly.

i did read about the como one and some one said you can`t go to big as you can not run them off a 13amp plug and would the 150 be able to weld chassis on my discovery

Your budget is perfect for a Clarke then! Wait until they have a VAT free weekend, and you can get yourself off to Machine Mart for a Clarke 150.

Plenty of people here are on their mailing list, and they regularly send out a code to get the VAT knocked off - you can have mine when the next one comes out. My last one expired 2 days ago - you could have had that if this thread had been started a few days earlier!
