Miller XMT 304, picking it up tomorrow and looking forward to playing with it, single phase 240v and will run up to about 240A on that plug

DC Tig only but it'll be perfect for me

Building a Jaguar Dana/Salisbury 3.54 Powerlock unit into an Atomic style casing to use on the back of my series. Be much nicer using the mig and tig over the stick when it comes to tacking and doing small vertical stuff inside the case!


That and the bulkhead still needs sorting on my series

Erm well it was running in a Caddy but he said its the same as the Dodge Charger engine which is the only 7.2 big block I could find


Going to supercharge it and shove it in a 110 landrover with LT95 gearbox and portal axles

Good machines those Millers, I run a few on the hire fleet and only hear good things about them.

I've got a fair few and they never miss a beat.

The RM2500 is a nice little set, people struggle a little at first to set them up as the step less voltage, wire feed and inductance take a little more getting used to than step switches.

Not sure on the vintage of my Millers, I buy them used as people round here don't want to pay much more than £55 a week to hire a decent stick set. Takes too long to get your money back on a new one.

It's pretty much what I learnt on at my old work bah his set didn't have the switch inside to flick from MMA to mig? I think my inductance is set to full?! Yeah I see what you mean with the infinitely variable settings but once you've got an idea where they should be its so much easier to just tweak than a stepped setup, only thing I have trouble with is thin stuff and spatter.

That's the feedback I got from customers, that they were a bit spattery. I've only got one left on the hire fleet now and I must admit I don't ever use it myself, but when I did it seemed ok. I'll dig it out at some point and give it a run up.

On thicker stuff (6-12mm) it's fine, do they go into spray transfer because.I've had mine sounding so smooth I had to stop and check It hadn't gone wrong, best weld I've ever done!!

Super noob, I added you on fb (or at least I think I did as I recognised the landies!) And saw you know Fraz from Kendal, you'll have to watch he doesn't pilfer your engine for his truck!

Ahh was wondering who you were


Funny you should mention Fraz.........its actually his old engine! I got it off him to put into my next landrover

He's keeping his supercharged engine and given me that one at mates rates as it does need a bit of a top end rebuild and while I'm at it I'll probably get Malcolm at Lancaster Engines to give the crank a clean up

Yeah he sorted out the pinion on my new gearbox for me, only cost a fiver too
