New to me car stinks BAD

Ok i am fairly chuffed with the Berlingo i have got for a cheap runabout for the new venture. BUT by eck it stinks bad, i think of fag smoke and smelly BO.

I used Fabreeze on it a full bottle aswell, thing is i didnt leave the windows open while it dried to draw the smell out, i dont know if i should of but it still pongs.

Can anybody suggest how to get rid of the pong, i will be removing the rear seats which mite help.

I have a long drive in a week or so and unless i get rid of the pong i wont be to happy. Good car but for that and needing a few fiddly bits. Good to see the days of 100 miles to around £12

Get some foaming upholstery cleaner and dash cleaner and give it a go over. Should help shift the worst.

Know i like Kippers not surr after a 5hr drive though lol.

They do.a dash cleaner that's decent too. Use em in the van at least once a year.

first thing it needs a deep clean , seats out and wet vac or scrub everything you can get at inc the headliner

then once you feel its nice and clean id use something like the below and a new pollen filter

I misread that, I thought you had put Cobbleriser. I know I can administer plenty of gas, but not Clorine dioxide

Cut an onion in half and put it in the vehicle. They draw bad odours out.

Hi, The smell is in all the soft furnishings so take all the seats and carpets out and pressure wash them ( wet vac them if you have one) and leave them out in the fresh air to dry for a day or two. You can go round the hard plastic bits in the car with soapy water and a nail brush. You need to get it all clean before spraying any scented cleaners around because they don't last otherwise.

Cheapie bathroom air fresheners, (the gel type in plastic box)

Open a couple of them and chuck them under the seats, make a big difference on wet dog smells also.

I dont have the gear to deep clean it but i can remove the seats and get a mobile valetor out to do it i guess then use the Clobberiser thingy, sound sgood.

Gona cost me what i paid for the dam thing at this rate.

He had just cleaned the interior as the seats were damp when i viewed it, he said he had cleaned it out, not deep cleaned it , he knew didnt he

I have a few weeks so i will see what i can do then. Mite aswell remove the carpets the lot while i am at it as i dont use it during the week yet.

jet washing carpets brings them up great , then hang them on a wall for a few days to dry

ok its a mornings work but there isnt a miricle cure for it ..you will need to put some effort in

I've used that along with vinegar to get rid of a bad smell in a house once.
My old Toyota Surf smelled pretty bad when I got it, a mixture of BO and curry!
Got some of that foaming stuff in there and it was a lot better, now it just smells of me!

My L200 stank of fags when i got it. My son got me a can of Blast, think that’s what it was called, you give the cab a big blast of it and shut the door. Leave it for a while. Most of the smell was gone. Apple dash cleaner made the slight smell that was left pretty unnoticeable.

ye, going to be a pain of a long job i guess, just was hoping for a modern miracle cure for pong things.

Would to under lining/insulation need to be removed aswell ?

At least it is only a front cab area that needs removing as the rear is a rubber lined that i can ash down.

I use dto have a cheap one but i mistreated it and i failed in the end. I do need another but a better quality soon but not quick enough lol
