Indeed. I honestly think that's what makes second hand, vintage or antique machinery as enjoyable as it is. I'ts not just the using of it, but also the finding, fettling & sorting of it.

If it all looked the same, worked perfectly and reliably then where would be the fun in that?

Exactly. Knowing that you sorted the machine that you're making stuff with is a lovely feeling in itself. Then you have all of the little alterations, modifications, additions etc. which have been made over the years, which all lead to each machine being unique. It's a frustrating process on occasion, but well worth it when you see the end results.

Damn and blast....
Put a nice new m42 blade on this morning went to start the saw and it blew the fuse, I replaced the fuse again it blew, replaced again and it run but i noticed that it was sluggish in starting but run OK.
So the 30uf capacitor is no good!
I went down to the rewind place and told him my woes and he couldn't understand? A bit more chopsing and I mentioned about the click on startup/shut down (centrifugal switch) , Apparently this changes things,
So mine is a start cap/induction run motor and he reckons that the value needs to be around 100uf.
He had a root about and found a 108uf one, i got home put it on and as soon as you press the button BOOM its up to speed no ramping up or stalling, Jobs a good'en

Other than that i noticed that some of the guide roller bearings have got flats on them but that's a job for after iv'e finished my Air install.

I know I said that I would sort the guide bearings after my air system was in...well I lied, I couldn't help myself
I need 8 bearings but I ordered 10, just aswell because more luck than judgement the coolant pump uses the same bearings

New blade, new bearings in the coolant pump and new guide bearings , cuts like a new'en
