I am sure that this has been asked a thousand times before........
I need to join small amounts of thin copper (tube and 4mm sheet) and I wish to use braze as the colour is more similar to the copper than solder is; the items are decorative. I have bought a Clarke gas brazing set
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/fc109-gas-torch-with-nozzles/path/gas-torches-soldering-irons
and am using it with propane gas. I have a old Benzomatic blue-coated brazing rod which I have tried to melt, but it simply glows a bright red.
My questions are:
- is this torch actually suitable for brazing
- what would be the best brazing material to use with this torch
- do I ned a hearth or can I use it in the open like a blowlamp on solder?
Any help will be appreciated.
Regards,
James.
