I use 'soft' kitchen tissue on my plastic lens glasses maybe 10 times a day as I wear a FP2 mask at work which steams my glasses, my glasses are super cheap £17 mail order.
My welding helmet cost around 4 times that and has plastic so soft that tissue marks it first time its cleaned!

I think you will find that there is a protective inner lens you can replace, you will in any event find that the lens is polycarbonate which is a very soft plastic. There is a very good reason for this, it has incredibly good impact resistance.
My (Zeiss) glasses cannot be polished by the local lens manufacturer, they are very soft polycarbonate. They cost substantially more than a Parweld helmet.
