This is starting to tell a story that perhaps there are some un ironed wrinkles that they need to sort.
Supernoob Id be doing exactly what you said and drop to the 9100XX. we know that one has been on the go a while and proven in the field.

Rang up to check, 3-5 with 13 shade should only be used for low amp tig apparently.....makes sense

mines been fine, andy at rapid explained the higher settings are for indoor low light conditions so if you're in the sun or outside all the time like I am its far too sensitive on those
