new sherman welder..one question

hi all, here paolo from italy, my first tig machine has landed from polsky, it's a sherman 210 ac\dc pulse, it's the one with the front panel full of knobs (no digital)

i'm currently waiting for a gas bottle so i did not fired up tha machine yet

it has the pulse function: i belived this can be useful especially for alu..well yesterday, reading some comments on a youtube video, someone says that the pulse in this machine only works in DC mode..so no pulse on alu..any of you guys can confirm this? can a machine have the pulse function for DC only? does this make sense?

i did not asked to the seller because i found he is not so much communicating man

edit: i see i cannot post questions on machines here..i searched on the machine question section of the forum, but there is not the sherman section (i understand that there are so many chinese rebranded firms that it's impossible a coverage..)

Yes, some machines have pulse in DC mode only.

It's not that important for aluminium IMHO, and especially when learning how to TIG weld, you don't need it

Pulse on aluminium is not very necessary.
Yes it can be useful for an experienced welder to get a certain job done, but for someone who is just starting welding the pulse feature adds a lot of settings that can be easily set wrong.
Not only the AC settings need to be set correctly (AC balance/AC frequency) but to add on the pulse settings (pulse amps, pulse cylce time and pulse balance) also have to be correct.

thankyou guys! what is the real\correct\proper use of the pulse? (i thought it is good for not overcook the metal while welding)

You got it right there but with aluminium it's often the opposite, you struggle to get it hot enough.

Pulse is great to use on thin stainless
