new repair

Hi all. Next weekend, I'm back to the repair café!!!! We have had this picture sent to us. As you can see, the wire attaching the seat back has broken/come loose. The seat itself is intact as far as I can see in another picture. I have some soft iron wire that will do the job, but I don't have enough of it. Does anyone know where I could get some please? I don't know the diameter of it yet,

If that is galvanized wire you can sometimes find a range of sizes in garden centers.

Looks far more like that fake, plastic "wicker" that was used in the 1970s. Stronger than the real stuff but, once broken, it unravels just like that shown in the picture.

@merryman, I think you maybe onto something there, That it is plastic and not metal at all. Which would explain why it has broken and unravelled then. All the more reason to pass on it then. We do the repairs for free or a donation, so no reason for us to spend loads of time on them.

Update on this. despite being told our thoughts on the chair, It turned up! As @merryman correctly predicted, it was, indeed fake plastic stuff. It was brittle as well. So I thought, as all the other repairs in were electronic (I don't touch them!), I'll have a bash I used the iron wire and although it bound everything together, It looked crap, We also have sewing ladies there so I asked one of them to hem a thin rectangle to cover the entire top section and sew ir into place. surprisingly, it worked well and the client went away happy. pictures when I get them posted on facebook.
