I can get a 3 licence VCDS for £225 from Gendan in Swansea nut think you need Vag-Tacho to get the immo code for the clocks to get the SKC code. All what I’ve gleaned on C2K.

Vcds is certainly handy.

The only issue you have with immobiliser is the 2kz caddy even the vag tacho will not read/code.
The 2k caddy it will happily.
(We had a 2004 early 2kz caddy and couldn't get a imobilizer key read/done by anyone beside dealer)

Doc actually pointed me in the direction of the clocks which are Touran ones and he reckons he can sort them

So, I’ve been home since Weds, and in the way home I made a bit of a detour via Lakeside IKEA around the M25 and picked up a steering wheel from an 18 Caddy and after swapping it out along with the cruise control stalks, I then spent the last 2 days sorting the interior before I start insulating and sound deadening the load area.

I love the wheel!

So I started in the rear by removing the extended floor section before trimming the front mount plate to fit.

Whilst welding in the front plate I also happened to set the underside on the van alight right above the fuel tank!!!! A lot of panicking and screaming oh no (or something similar!) I managed to get it under control without any damage, (turns out it was a little underseal or waxoil or something so no major issue, although it scared the **** out of me an will teach me to get myself a fire watcher next time.

So the back currently looks like this.

Then around 6pm last night thought I’d change out the fronts for the Touran ones along with the storage seat bases, carpet, underfelt, and floor mounted storage boxes in the rear. I was finishing by torchlight at around 9pm!!

The whole thing has a quality feel about it now instead of feeling just like a van.

They guy has kept it to one side for me but it wasn’t perfect. I may have to replace the rear vent but that’s no big deal.

The guy I bought it off drove out to meet me, and has also agreed to sell me the standard Caddy maxi full screen head unit and mirrors after my next trip. Fingers crossed the price will be agreeable. The wheel and airbag was cheap at £150 and the head unit is just £100 so the cabin is gonna look spanking. Waiting on price and pics of the mirrors.
If the Touran airbag hadn’t deployed I would have had the dash too!

Spent today lining the metalwork in the load area with 36 sq ft of Noico (£49), Alubutyl foil covered sticky back high density butyl rubber to sound deaden the panels. The different in noise is noticeable. **** stuff to fit though, very time consuming. I popped into B&Q this evening for 6m of 100mm thick PET recycled plastic bottle insulation (£17).
My mates lift became free around 5pm so I took the opportunity to get it up in the air and removed the centre exhaust section which was corroded through along the welded seam. New one coming first thing tomorrow for £20.65!
I might see if he doesn’t mind my spraying the whole underside with Gravitex before it arrives.

This morning whilst waiting for the exhaust section to be delivered and having it still in the air I covered any bare metal on the underside with some grey Gravitex, fitted my used slider door seal, and got the seized bolts out of the spare wheel carrier, reshaping Ed it and the inner rear balance before copper slipping the bolts and refitting.

Then once the Zorst was done I packed any void I could find in the rear with PET recycled insulation before taking a big deep breath and made a start on the carpet. What a **** job, but it looks grand. Still a little to do to finish but I had to go to collect the Touran centre console and armrest and spare set of headlights for a little project.

Very good price for a sought after VW , Helping my brother out with a old SSE Fiat Doblo 2015 LWB and paid a lot more for that than this caddy

Been carpeting it out in sections like where the windows would go etc and he's going to be using it for a MTB getaway vehicle so not full plush camper needs space for the bike.

Very jealous of your lift any details on it?

No, the carpet is called 4 way stretch carpet from VLT shop on eBay. 10sq m for £40. You basically spray the contact adhesive to the metalwork and to the back of the carpet before stretching into the voids. I started on the rail along the top before working down along the whole side.
It is VERY stretchy but I found it hard work on the rear arches as you tend to end up with so much stretched that the arches end up baggy then you have to pull the area above back off and then try to lose the stretch going back up. Hard work but it looks so effective to see the ridges and shape of the metalwork behind.
I found the window aperture frame in the side the most satisfying and used a narrow roller and screwdriver handle to get it to stretch into them.

Just finished most of the carpet on brother's fiat doblo

Plywood lining covered in carpet them used the left over to carpet the rest of the panels showing but then ran out so only have one side fully carpeted at the moment


You can see the right side we have carpeted where the plywood won't go and then the bottom left is the plywood inserts that are carpeted over and holes drilled for mounting

Finished mostly except one the side we ran out on

Quite pleased but seems to take a while can't imagine how long a full camper build takes

I got some black veltrim here but ts not very stretchy and is harder work except on straight panels. This 4 way is much nicer.

Nice job @Lewis_RX8 . The one tip I found is get a hot soldering iron for the holes and use different clips for the panels so they can stay hidden. I’ll update that with pics once I’ve done them.
