I took a chance on a new plasma from.amazon usa and all though I've hardly done any plasma cutting before I'm impressed with the cuts I got on 12 and 30 mm from single phase
70 amps on the 30mm and a everlast 80s with ipt 80 torch , I Know there are some negative comments about them but there are also some good reviews too .
I looked at the tech arc 65 , but it's getting on for 2k and I just can't justify that much cash for something that's not going to be used all the time , it has more power than I'll need but it was only $110 more than the 60 amp machine .
I'm going to get a 60 amp tecmo torch also as there are more consumable choice , but for what use it will get it will probably be just fine .
I would have liked the torch function the Oxford had but is it worth the extra hundreds of pounds over this .
I think I paid a good bit less than £2k from my local supplier but would have to look back to be sure.
I decided to go transformer based as I hoped it would last a long time but suppose you never can tell
Did he sell direct to you , I just need to hope I have no problems with mine as there are currently no dealers here , they did say they are in talks with someone in Scotland though
I got it from the place I get most of my welding gear, have dealt with the guy for probably upwards of 25 years and he has been at a few places but is currently Highland Industrial Supplies.
Just looked back and I paid £1449 so £1740 including the VAT
Regarding the Oxfords heating option, I thought about that then thought why would I need as I have oxy propane I use for heating and it is a hell of a lot quicker than the Oxford seemed to be in the vid I watched. Suppose if you didn't have gas then it may be a decent option for small stuff.
