Hi to all just thought id register and share some pics of a log splitter ive been building. Its far from finished but its running and splitting. Bill

Hi guys yep turbo intercooled log splitter engine is Nissan LD20 diesel, intercooler is Nissan Skyline and turbo is Toyota Estima van. The pic of the engine is showing a T3 type turbo off a late model Nissan Terrano but was a bit big and didnt provide any boost so swapped to the smaller Toyota turbo which is doing 9PSI and works a lot better, also changed the exhaust when fitting the Toyota turbo as you can see in the other pics to a upright stack type exhaust with no muffler whatsoever. It isnt as loud as one may expect and definately easier on the ears than a single cylinder briggs or similar powered splitter, have also just had the first raise/lower of the conveyor via hydraulics although it isnt turning yet hopefully this or next weekendto have it completed as its middle of winter here workng 8am-5pm i dont get much daylight to do much work on it. Sorry about the ranting and terrible spelling its now 11.15 pm thurs night have just arrived home from the pub

Did i mention the dearest bit was the hydraulic oil? And 2nd most expensive was 22L of diesel to fill the fuel tank? Ah the joys of hoarding
