New member buying advise

I am new to the forum and lookinf to buy my first MIG welder.
Has anyone any advice on buying a Cosmo 145?

Hi Dutch house (would that be reference to the Dutch house at the bottom of A20?)

The clarke range of machines are generally the best range for the first timer,what sort of materials/thicknesses do you want to work with?

No it's a different Dutch House!!
I am in the early stages of a locost roadster project and have a need for a welder. I have enroled on a college course and am looking for my first machine.
The box section for the chassis must be about 1mm and the chassis member are 3mm.

I have an option to buy the Cosmoo welder - any advice would be appreciated

Cosmo = SIP = trouble (as far as low-end MIGs are concerned)
... in my experience anyway (saddled with a SIP 130T that I've made OK by spending time and money modifying it) and that of many other forum members here.

If I had £500 to spend and concidering my project, what would you suggest?

I would drop weldequip (a member and supplier) a private message regarding a package,a clarke 160tm mig with an auto helmet plus gloves,tips,wire etc and buy a bottle of argon/co2 mix from keygas at wrexham would come in under that i think
