Same. Also it looks like they have taken the cookie cutter they have been using for the evoques and discos and gone “ta-da look a defender”. Gone right off LR lately...

40k for a defender is rediculus 70k for a top end model is stupid why wouldnt you buy a range rover. I think land rover is really missing a trick by abandoning the utillity market as if vehicles work they dont need them to change or update every few years apart from emissions and safety legislation. Its simple easy money if you get it right the first or second time. Ok they only produced 27000 old defenders every year but from i read it was 27000 garantueed sales as i have never seen a defender languish on a forecourt for long and they couldnt make enough of them towards the end.

Its just a new discovery or Range Rover only with square corners and probably different seats, I don’t see any real point in producing it i doesn’t bring anything new to the Land Rover lineup. Probably would have been better off developing a pickup instead.

I've had Landrovers in the past, sold my last defender a year ago. For me the company is no longer on my car buying radar, I don't like anything they make now. If I ever have another it would be a series for rebuild.

Look for an Asia Rocsta or a Mahindra Roxor you'll have lots of fun fixing it just like a Defender

If this is correct they’re dreaming.They already have enough overpriced MPVs, the Defender should be a reasonably/competitively priced off-road utility vehicle, that’s it.

I suppose many on this forum will not be new defender owners: most defender enthusiasts on a forum like this are hands on folk that like working on them and know they can fix them at the side of the road.

I have used/abused my defender knowing: am not to worried about about scratches or wee dings from offroading and if I break something parts are relatively cheap and it is easy to work on.

Also for more extreme offroading you have to accept that damage to your vehicle is highly likely, I suspect not many folk would risk that with a £40k plus vehicle.

Unfortunately I suspect the new Defender will be like the Mini and Beetle - a modern yet not very innovative vehicle with styling based on an innovative car that that was truly special in its day.

I am a little disappointed that production is going abroad, I can only assume the companies number crunchers have weighed up all the options ,we are now faced with importing a land rover with all the associated tariffs. No doubt the rest of Europe will benefit from a more realistically priced landy. Most of land rovers products have done well,hopefully this one will as well.
