New iPhone 6...?

Work gave me a 7 when my 5s come up for a change. Major step backward if you ask me.
Alright so the camera is better on the bigger screen but that’s it! It’s not a single handed operation any more. I cannot securely hold this thing while sending a text,email etc and hit any of the top corners with my thumb like I could before and if I turn it on it’s side I cannot reach any of the left hand side with my thumb. The 5s was great and a single handed use phone. Love the apple phone but the smaller ones were nicer as phones imo.

Iphones and Android both have single handed use modes that either shrink the area of the screen being used or bring the top half of the screen down so you can reach the buttons. You do then possibly need to question why everyone has made the screens so big that they have to include methods to only use part of the screen though!

The 8 is also buttonless in that it has a touch pad rather than an actual button. Makes for a more waterproof phone as the home button is often first to die

When this iPhone 5s dies it will be my first and last Apple product, next phone will be cordless too unlike this thing.

I’m on my first iPhone, my daughters hand me down. It’s a 5s does all I want to do on it. Battery life isn’t an issue for me, if I’m in the car or pickup the phone is on the charger.Both my oldest kids have iPhone 7s, they can use them one handed. I think not being able to work them one handed is an age thing.

That's a bit like crashing your new Mondeo into a lamp post and getting annoyed that Ford won't fix it for free even though you've been with them since you bought a new Anglia.

I know what you are saying, but they were marketing the phone as a "rugged" item ( the advert showed a mountain biker going out in the rain with it fixed on his handlebars). You would have thought the glass would be adequate to survive a trip into my pocket. Would understand if i dropped it from a height etc. Lesson learnt though, 360° protective case after that. Though part of choosing the phone was for the looks, but in a big old case it was kind of lost.

My first [and only] smartphone is Android based and I find it OK. A pal has an iPad and regularly curses it.

Whilst I like tools and I work in IT i'm not really into high tech gadgets. For me the most important things for a phone were always signal and battery life. Back in the day we had Nokias then we went to Windows and Android based devices. Then had a partnership with Apple and got given IPAD Mini and Iphone SE. I am very happy with both of them. The IPAD has a sim and the signal as a WiFi hotspot is amazing. It will get 4g in places my phone won't even make a call and I can leave it outside a computer room and get WiFi connection 30m away on my laptop. Battery life is amazing for what I use it for which is basically an access point.

The Iphone SE works very well for me, I don't have music on it and I turn stuff like Bluetooth and mobile data off if I don't need them and doing that the battery can last days. Everything just works and I find it all very intuitive.

I think in many cases people are comparing modern phones to phones which were not used in the same way previously. My Nokia 6310i battery could last a week but I only ever made calls and sent the odd text, you can't compare that to a device where you have the world of knowledge at you finger tips and the screen is lit up for 8 hours a day because you can't bare to miss out on knowing "Sarah has checked into Tesco Reading"

Ditto. I use the phone as a phone [and a camera too, occasionally], with the odd text thrown in, usually in reply to an incoming one. #Luddities R Us

Same as me, might go days without being used. It's all turned off apart from the phone bit unless I need it & it needs charging about every 2 weeks. I recently bought a new phone & went for the one with the biggest battery, as the life was important to me. The man in the shop said normally you have to charge a smart phone at least once a day, maybe more if you use it a lot. My reply was if it won't do a week your having it back!

Smart phones in general I think. Older equals more charging regardless of the manufacturer

I've never heard anything good about iPhone battery life. Had HTC & Sony handsets since & they've been great!

Thanks for the suggestion there, unfortunately it is the 128 GB that interests me.

And thats another apple failing or have they finally allowed for removable storage.

I belive hes implying the battery was so poor it was always plugged in.


Never had an issue with reconditioned phones tbh.
Rather have a top spec recon than a brand new budget phone.

after all said and done i wouldnt want that much storage on my phone

i dont store info on it for long pc,s learnt me that but with phones its far worse

people loose all there photos and video and contacts due to non backing up of them

they crack and break so easily and if there passworded on there screen there a swine to open up and get the important stuff off them

8gb is enough it just reminds you to back up more from your phone to another system for those important moments of pics and video
