I am new here,but have watched your tutorial videoes before, now as the owner of a fully restored ford 66 fairlane (more about the restoration later,
it is about 1/4 inch thick in places),that needs some bodywork, i bought an R Tech mig 180 Digital as it has an easy mode, cos i am needing all the help
i can get, so there will no doubt be a lot of questions ( not to stupid i hope )

I think they have watched to many american tv shows,cover it with filler and flat it with a long board to get flat panels with
straight lines.
If you think that was bad, look at Stevie Wonders welding below.

My nissan was like that..."full restoration" according to the previous owner. I was removing the filler with a hammer and bolster!

Yes done that, but did not need the hammer, now i am not looking for a 100 point restoration but something to have some fun with.
Now i am not a body man, i do engines and mechanical things, seems now igot a lot of learning to do, IE welding and metal fabrication
I don't want to dig out to much filler as i want to live long enough to have some fun!!!

Morris, no such luck, 427's are like hens teeth, i think i got a better engine, the only engine
at the time that all GM and some Mopar crapped themselves because the Legend that was
Bob Glidden spanked all their asse's with the one and only Ford 351 Cleveland 4V.
In its 4 year production, it was the most powerfull small block made,in NASCAR even
the king Richard Petty could not beat them,and as i said in pro stock of the time the
Cleveland reined supreme..

My avatar Pop had a 351c. Aussie block, ported Aussie closed chamber heads, very lary Crane solid lifter cam and valve train, forged pistons etc. 11.5:1 comp ratio meant 5* fuel and 12 mpg on a good day. But what an engine.

Welcome to the forum, I have had a few vehicles that looked great but had tons of filler in, my beetle had 1/2" in places for no reason other than bad qualiry metal repairs work, a few mates have the r-rec 180 and they work well.

The aussies took over wher the yanks left off, they could see the potential of that cleveland small block,after all when they first ran it in NASCAR,it had the power
of the other big block runners and ran for 500 mile race at 7500 rpm with no issues.
Mine is iron 2 bolt main,4V iron head, trw boss pistons that are about 10.5 compression, comp cam of unknown identity,msd ignition,edelbrock inlet with a Honkin 800 double pumper on top and headers.

I am finding filler even on straight panels, i think if i had the time and the inclination to get all the filler out, i bet it would be about 500 lbs lighter.
I got the digital R Tech because it has easy mode, put in some figures and away you go, (as a noobie to welding, i need all the help i can get ), but have found that their
easy set for 0.8 wire and 18swg to my thinking was to cold as the weld was very tall and not full penetration, or maybe it is me,will keep practising
