New here and new to welding

hi everyone!

I've been reading the forum and now have finally joined to ask a few questions..

So a couple of weeks ago I started working on a old bike trailer and had a go at welding...with an ARC, and here's my first ever bit of welding

Now... being the proud owner of a Land Rover, rust and welding will be part of my life, so I've bought a MIG welder of ebay last week...

and today had a play with it! loads easier than the ARC!
of course the one I bought is only a little one, but I can use it to practice and do small repair jobs on the Landy, for bigger jobs I have a mate who has a big welder...

But anyway, today what I found hard was the darkness on the mask I was using and would like to buy one of those automatic masks....
any advice on what to get?
i've seen some on ebay, but they say solar powered? i thought they worked with batteries?

Most have batts and solar power.

Look for a fast response time of 1/25,000 sec. Also adjustable sensitivity, shade level and delay.

As far as ebay, look at the seller for good feedback and if they have spare outer lenses and have a good return policy.

ALso, many here have purchased good, inexpensive masks from weldequip and DIYwelding.
