New glasses, bifocals or varifocals

I was always swapping glasses around
Speck savers sorted me with "bendy frames"
Sometimes use a plus 2 cheater for intricate TIG welding

Another vote for varifocals and they did indeed take a little getting used to.

The 'swimmy' feeling with Varifocals should go away after your eyes adjust to them - opticians have a word for this (literally think it is Varifocal brain!) - this should take around two weeks. A varifocal is useful as it should include your distance, inter and near add but if you still can't see close up with these, talk to a prescription glasses company about incorporating your adds differently in the varifocal - they should be able to do this.

The tri focal's I use are optomised to suit my needs, so reactive with light grey tint & anti reflective.
With a lot of opticians they have a standard set up & have had moved around till I found one that was able to understand what & why i wanted the splits where I did.
Have just had a test & require new prescription so am trying pale yellow tint & AR was told they don't do the tint with reactive so will have normal lens & see how the tint goes, then on second pair think about reactolite, have to have 2 pairs due to license, have not had new frames for 10 years same as @doubleboost I have scrunchy frames
Have tried VF twice found them tiring flying as the peripheral vision seems to be down on the tri focal & had to keep swiveling head a lot more.
With the Tri I can look at map on knee, just move eyes to see instruments or distance.
Polaroid's can mess up LED screens, had a GPS that was screwed by it

Dreading the approaching need for varifocals but think it's only a matter of time currently wear reading glasses but going to need distance for driving soon. Already have 3 pairs, home, car and office (I'm a disaster for loosing or breaking them so extra 'spare pair' is handy) really don't want to have 6 pairs in total

I’ve gone from readers to varifocals. Got two pairs, used to have readers in all our cars and a couple in the house. My varifocals are worn all the time, easily manage with one pair unless I break them. Which I have done

I'm at the stage where I don't wear glasses all the time, reading, using computer or mobile I'll have them on, more and more often for watching TV , especially subtitles, working at the car or in the garage. Rest of the time they are off which means I inevitably lose them, forget them or break them. Had just 2 pairs at one stage. Lost one pair early morning at work, same day by lunchtime I'd lost both of them! Phoned specsavers ordered new pair urgently. Next day to be fair they were ready. Put my coat on as I was going to pick them up and felt strange lump near armpit of the coat. Explored this and yes, found both pairs in a concealed inside pocket that I hadn't realised existed, except when I put 2 pairs of f*****g glasses into it so that's how I ended up with 3 pairs. Chances of me losing all 3 in a single day.....
