Like those. Might treat myself to the smaller.I prefer these, I have two for the larger ones and they are good vices.

They’re a pain in the backside to tram every time, save that for very long work pieces.
Mounted on end can be handy. Remember lots of mills have heads that can be rotated 90 degs. It’s not always about being under the quill.

My current vice is a bit of a monster. Cost me 30 quid though.
Beggars can't be choosers.

Wouldn't part with the above and fits sideways perfectly to hold larger parts. How do you decide what's the correct size vice for the machine you have? I take it that the over hang of that one means that you have little travel before it hits the pillar.

Been known to clock a smaller vice into it on occasion too.
Must weigh 30+kg. Either vice matt linked would be perfect for me.
Depends how the bank looks when I order.Which one out of the two are you leaning towards then?
I find I use the two piece, more than the other 3 vices I have, all depends what you are doing.Have also longed for a 2 piece vice on occasion, but have always said "sure that'll make a nice project some day when I'm off"
Famous last words

As for size, get the biggest you can fit on your machine, big can hold small, small cant hold big. Vices are like women and motorcycles. One is never enough!
Yup. Thats the issue i found. mines only a mill/drill so narrow table to start with.Yeah, think it’s 8”. Really you need a chain hoist to put it on the bed of a machine.
The trouble with big vices is they eat up your Y axis dependent of the amount of meat behind the fixed jaw.
Not that I have noticed any issues, either tramming, or warping the table. However warping isnt so ething Ive checked for since buying the machine. How do you find the tramming in on the two piece? Have you had any issues of the table warping?

Tramming, once one end is set ( the fixed endd) I try not to move it. I do on occassion remove the movable end, and fit other vices. Its only on rare occassions I remove both ends, last time was to use my 10 inch rotary table.
I think you are perhaps over thinking this. Buy vice, fit to your machine. And use accordingly.
Now the aceria f3 is a very nice machine. You should treat us to some pictures as they are not all too common.
