New gas boiler offer ?

Greeting people, has anyone on here seen the offers suposidly from our wonderfull government giving new gas boilers to people who meet certain criteria ?.
i suspect a scam, a friend said it,s legit, i filled in an online form, next day i had a phone call from someone with an Indian accent who asked me a couple of questions.
anyone know if this is legit, a scam or are there strings attached, i just splashed out £5,000 on my dog so a bit skint at the mo

Around 6 months ago my 91 year old FIL had a caller about this offer, I looked into it thinking it was a scam. They sent a surveyor who I met there.
FIL did qualify for a new boiler, finances, old inefficient boiler etc but it also included cavity wall insolation, fans in kitchen and bathroom, loft insolation (if it's not up to standard) He went for it, the loft was already done but they replaced his old cast iron boiler with a Ideal combi boiler, fitted TRV's to the rads a new wireless room stat and did the cavity wall. I bricked up the old flue with matching brick as they wouldn't match the brick but it all worked out well and he didn't pay a penny.

My FIL is not on any benefits apart from state pension.

It's not a scam, been going for years. I fitted many under the scheme and surveyed even more

Eligibility varies, it is not "be on benefits" as I fitted many for people of working and retirement age who were not on benefits

It's been a while since I was involved so I couldn't comment on the current eligibility criteria

the cavity wall insulation is the one that would bother me

there is grants for wall insulation but it depends on whats on offer

internal wall insulation grant ( note they dont care if you already have damp as its just stuck on, they are also not keen on screwing the boards onto framework if your trying to fit a damp coarse layer this only just passed )

i also dont like that stuff either ( fire reference )

It is called the Eco4 scheme. From my understanding they will fit either a new gas boiler or heat pump with solar panels. They will only do it to a house they can also insulate at the same time I think.
Used to be only for people getting benefits but now also for people with a household income of less than around £31k. Tenants also qualify.

My mum had a new system under the scheme, I think the fitter was trying to fit 2 days work into one as he was there until 9pm, he also made inappropriate comments to my sister who had popped in to keep an eye on mum

It has been well installed with correct sized radiators and proper weather compensation

Drilling your own well is one way to get cheap gas. I reckon that you'll need to go deeper than that though.

Was it that the house wasn't really suitable for the pump?

Or maybe the pump wasn't suitable for the house...I'm thinking the house was there first .

Also I thought internal foam required the metal fixings for fire purposes...or has that changed?

What kind was it?
They say you should never do a wall that faces driving rain.
Lots of my old neighbours had it done back in the 80s. Serious damp problems and galv wall ties having to be replaced.
Apparently "modern" stuff is better?
My old house is semi derelict. Long story but finally in a position to have it renovated. I can get a grant for a heat pump and solar panels which will save me a fortune. Surveyor drill into cavity. 3% moisture content. Never been insulated. He was astonished.
The whole pine end is very exposed to driving rain but he "assured" me modern stuff is fine.
No damp at all in an unoccupied house empty for 10 years with no heat is pretty amazing.
