hope you all injoy if you would like to see any more of my other projects just let me know its the first time i have let any one look at the details of my shells, hay may be iam getting old thanks for your replys its been great.thanks alwyn
have been a MSA scrute for over 30 years, built a couple of Mk1's, and logbooked well over 100 escorts, they do NOT come better than this. Seriously, seriously impressive.
I logbooked a MK2, from Chester, some months ago and was concerned that the extent and dimensions of the new modified bulkhead and tunnel exceeded that allowed by FIA (who've never forgiven us for the smacking at Agincourt!) in the drawing in Technical List under Rallycross fig. 256 I think; same rules apply for rally. Pre 2009 logbooks need re-doing for 2012, some new requirements, of course!
Thanks for the pics, a textbook on how to do it proper.
May I call for a visit sometime? Diolch, Ron
Mate that is some serious metal porn, I`m a huge fan of the escorts and cant remember seeing one with that standard of fitout or workmanship. As long as you dont mind i`m going to save every pic for when i get round to doing my own mkII as inspiration and guidance.
Cheers
Troppo
we had a msa log book done by paul he did say about the size of the tunnel but told him i work on drawings from sweden he let me off this time. the driver done the forest of dean last year finish 2 nd in class on the first time out in it.i done 4 more of these shells now but with some modifcation to keep with in the rules of the msa and fia which they all passed .its hard for me because it does not allow me to push the envelope any more ie my motorbike rally cars where band but was built to the qualty of the pitcs shown, but rules are rules.i mainly do lot of alloy work now and historic build shells but just started a new consept mark 2 shell for myself but with a twist. thanks alwyn
Showed your pics at Anglesey Circuit today, HUGE praise: should start a fan club! Your concept Mk2- monster engine perhaps? I like Volvo 2.8L conversion, you tube "Ieuan Rowlands" and see what I mean. Faster than most WRC's on Big Ray this years Plains rally! Even top scrute Mike Harris reckons "Ieu" is well worrying
I think you should put up a project thread for every car you have worked on, truely inspiring stuff.
i feel like i have learnt alot just from the pics you have put up so far.
what wire size do you use for welding the cage? im guessing its 0.8 and 0.6 for the body work.
