New fence

I've built a couple of panels for my new fence. I've build a top and bottom rail and two side sections. The top and bottom bar and sides are all 1.5m using 40mm x 8mm flat sections. The bars of the fence are 1.8m and are 16mm round.

My daft, and possibly unanswerable question is, what should I use for fence posts? I was thinking of square hollow box section. Something like 50mm x 50mm x 3mm or maybe 4mm?

Good idea. I'll try and see if it I can manage that. Here are the first two. they're sitting perpendicular to each other as tricky to move given the space and I've had enough of moving them for one day. The one closest is sitting in its fitted orientation, ie bars running vertically.

the estate has 2" green coated fence posts like your fence

Is say 2” square, 5cm, Any thicker might look a little out of proportion.

1st pic is the only guide i can see on thickness

these are galvanised posts and fence so worth doing if you want them to last
