I bought an Aikron DRO from BMR Measurement Solutions as I had previously had an Electronice system from Bruce years ago, unfortunately the price of a new Electronica system would have been more than I paid for the mill!
So today I started to fit the Aikron system, I wanted to keep the X axis carriage stops and also have the scale so it didn't restrict movement of the Y axis.
First job, make brackets to fit the scale above the axis stops, the reason I went for the Aikron, small magnetic scales, so these bits where made from a piece of scrap stainless.

and used to replace the supplied scale ends so the scale goes above the stops and screws to the T slot.

The scale came in a 1 metre length along with the magnetic tape, marked it out and a quick Dremmel job to cut the tape.

Best kitchen scissors were used to cut the stainless cover, tape stuck on and the cover slid in.

Tomorrow hopefully make the mount for the sensor.
