What is actaully wrong with the idea of an ID card?

That is how my kids and most of their mates use their provisional licences, seems like they have no interest in learning to drive and only use it as photo id. at the pub or offie.

because its an introduction to having and carrying an id card it dont bother me having one .personaly i think everyone should carry one

well they've been talking about id cards for years its nothing new, Ive got nearly 20 years to go before I need to change mine, I'll worry about it then. if you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about. and some of us still have no photo id of any description.

I have often thought - with current tech - we could condense everything onto one Gov.com card.

NI - doctors number - driving license - passport - the whole ball game.

As i dont think we need id cards here and wouldnt really benefit anyone

why do you guys think we need id cards as we havent had id cards since ww2 and i can understand that part of it

the problem wth collection of details is them selling your info onto others as there always a risk dosnt matter which one you use to prove who you are there still collecting data on you amazon, post office, verizon all collection of details to prove who you are dosnt mean your found

the old chestnut nothing to hide nothing to worry about is all cloak and daggers no offense here but they cant even find a terrorist on uk shores so it isnt for that protection

Have no issue with ID cards. In fact it would make life easier as when you need to provide ID, you can do just that. What would be fun is to make tinfoil a ID required item, like booze. That'd stump them

True but most ID stuff isn’t that secure anyway.

Passport is a random/sequence number I think. NI number is based on your DOB. The last letter is A-D which shows the quarter of the financial year you were born in and in the old days dictated your sign on day.

Tell me your name and dob and I’ll tell you your Driver Licence number, or vice versa. Tell me the number and I’ll tell you your sex!

Security will only be a worry for the personal data and we have that now anyway. Biometric passports etc.

There is no requirement to carry your driving license with you, on the other hand if you drive commercialy you are required to carry your DQC (CPC) card with you.

Anyway I prefer MOD 90 for ID.
