New cordless drill required - advice please

If it slips you are not able to get enough tension on the bit with the chuck? Or you are over its capacity - it takes a fair amount of power to get through any thing over 1/4 " steel with a drill over 8 mm I should realy be on a sds set to drill with a 13 mm chuck fitted

The drill has a 13mm capacity in steel ,it slips on anything bigger then 6 mm,the Chuck hasn't got the hard teeth that my other dewalt Jacobs Chuck has so can't grip the bits securely and they slip randomly even when not breaking through

I got an offer leaflet from screwfix and they have an 18v Makita with 2 3ah li-ion batteries for £150! There are offers on other drills so it could be worth checking out.

If you can take it back, it's not fit for purpose if it won't grip drill bits!

IIRC, when my Bosch green drill was new the chuck slipped but it seems to be alright now. It also loosens itself a tad every time you stop drilling, after 5 or 10 holes the bit just falls out. Wouldn't recommend it.

I just ordered the 18 v sds and 6" 18v grinder in Matabo yesterday. Brushless with 5.5 ah (HD) new style lithium iron batterys
The new type battery is said to give a much flatter energy curve so you don't get fade

Just over £ 700 mind with one charger and three of the battery and an sds to 13 mm chuck adapter, boxes etc

they're both decent drills with good batteries but at nearly £300 they're expensive. Screwfix had some good deals on: £150 for an 18v brushless Dewalt with 2 2ah batteries, or a Makita with 2 3ah batteries. Both will last a long time and you could get two sets for the same money, then you'll have four batteries , two chargers, you'll never run out of juice! You can also have one drill for drilling and one for driving saving time swapping bits.
(personally id go for the Dewalt!)
