first ride out on new bike Kawasaki W650. Pretty much a clone of a proper Bonnie, almost identical bore x stroke power and torque etc. Just a bit lardier
First proper bike ride in seven ears
Apologies for ****e photos.
I had a busy day so a twenty minute flip was planned. Then Oh! Im nearly in Brecon so a ninety minute bimble it was.
Loved it. 20mph limits are a pain on a bike.
it seems happier using slightly higher revs than I expected.
A few thoughts. trotting along at a steady 40/50mph I was constantly looking for another gear.
I think I was surprised that despite being a long stroke motor it likes to be revved. It feels happy plodding along but with encouragement it will kick ass. A nice mix.
Is this why in the 50's and 60's the parallel 650 twin was the headbangers bike and ridden by nice chaps like My Old man?
I think a long and happy relationship is in the offing.
Weird it sort of reminded me of a proper mini, it feels fast so it is fast. No insulation from the experience. It's real.
I will be a dedicated fair weather biker and may have to clean my teeth now and again to get the flies off them.
Hell I'm now planning a new shed at home for him to live in. I can even see myself out there Sunday afternoons polishing him.
I'm also amazed how people who are not into bikes go all gooey eyed especially the female species.
Other options were an Enfield, a Honda Revere, a BMW R850. I'm glad my heart ruled my head.
Bevel drive cams? a beautiful solution to a non problem?
Its not a sporty engine, cam chains seem to work ok. But it does look nice.
