fixing a car is easy, it is fixing the right bit that is harder!
I once had a BMW X5 come in, guy was waiting in reception for me to test the third alternator and second battery & new fan belt, he had had fitted elsewhere, I went to drive it into the workshop and he said "be careful the power steering goes stiff sometimes" but I cannot afford to fix that right now, told him to sit back down, gave him his keys back, asked for £20.00 for diagnosing the problem, he did not really want to pay me but I said no pay no diagnosis, so what was wrong?
damper rubber split inside the front pulley, slipping under load, did not want me to fix it as I was too expensive..... he had already spent over a thousand pounds and was waiting for warranty claims to refund him for bits he had sent back as faulty.

He got a proper diagnosis cheap though. Wait till he gets another quote! Why do people run about in expensive cars and then don't look after them properly. Always trying to get things fixed on the cheap. Yes you don't like to be robbed but shop about at reputable garages to find the best at the right price.

I know the battery needed, its just an 063 car battery for a little fiesta, I normally buy batteries from motor factors incase of any warranty problems down the line, but I was going to just order online and wondered if anyone could recommend a good online car battery supplier who will provide support and will honour the guarantee. failing that ill just ring my factors and see if they will deliver.I despair sometimes.

my no1 pet hate, if you can't afford it don't have it its simple.
if that damper was to come off or split and he lost PAS typically going round a corner what does he think is going to happen to the poor soul coming the other way!
knowingly leaving something like this should be a criminal offence and definitely invalidates insurance if you knowingly drive a vehicle not fit for the road.
don't get me wrong accidents do happen but if negligence can be proven it should be dealt with accordingly.
really gets my back up!
First try disconnecting the battery the next time it is going to be left a while and see if it starts OK when you reconnect. A clamp meter is too large an instrument to pick up what would be I would have though would be a very small current flow causing the drain.
