I just popped out the diff axle seals.
Then tried out my new axles for size, I already tried both ends into the hub splines and it slipped on and off easily.
However the new axle binds up just as the splines start to catch in the diff and is then difficult to remove, feels like an interference fit. I’m not sure if it is a spline issue or a shaft diameter issue. The old axle slips in and out easily with no restriction.
Old axle.
New Axle
My gut feel is that it is a spline issue. I cleaned them up with a wire brush and added some oil but it made no difference. Any suggestions?
