The newarc will run on a 40 amp breaker at 150 amps 100%.i run one comfortably on a 32 amp with 3.2 rods up to shorter bursts of 140 amps
The ifl is pretty much identical to it also.the rest are better on 230v

Fair enough, Never used an IFL so didn't know that. Newarc are lovely machine's. Got one of their 400A separate mig's coming in to play with soon.

What about a secondhand Pickhill Bantam oil filled type, Cheap and bullet proof about 180 amps, Run all day long no trouble at all.

while rcd protection stops electrocution people are under the -elusion u touch the wire -and it trips out and your ok far from it it absoloutly lifts u and bloody hurts. stiffens all your -muscles up and u can still get burnt -it still don't protect u if u have hold of the live and -neutral . just live to earth

when u hold the live and neutral and u have rubber boots on and there is no earth leakage u are just a balanced load -and they don't trip . I have had 3 bad shocks -in 45 years and survived {just } so I don't -need telling it don't happen-

For an rcd to trip requires an imbalance

Exactly - Line to earth or Neutral to earth.

Supplied by RH Davey welding supplies based in Southampton.
First class service from Jim (Thanks mate) and a very very nice arc welding machine.thanks to all for your input.

Thanks for the order Sean, much appreciated, I must get over to Alcatraz some time, there is quite a bit of untapped business there I reckon. My friends in Portsmouth have pretty much made the island their own.
As for the GYS, yes it's a smooth little set isnt it? Good performer on 110v too which is handy for sites.
