New Angler fish

I was asked by a guy in the states to make one of my angler fish so I agreed to make one for him, cash up front of course. Very brave of him ordering across the Atlantic.

He asked for images as it came together; a service I always offer as I photograph everything. At first he was concerned by the teeth being too shiny, the metal being the wrong finish etc etc. I tried explaining that the first pics were of the build not the finished item. he drove me nuts, and to mt relief loves the finished item. if I had made the changes he was requesting it would have spoiled it.

What is the finish ? Looks copper coloured. You can simular colours using antiquing fluid from pennys

Looks very nice chunko, is it bronze wire as it does look a golden colour in the photos, be funny to see the look on customs faces if they x-ray the parcel when you send it.

I use 4mm gas welding rods for the boney bits, the body is just mild steel cleaned up on a wire wheel on the bench grinder, then brushed with jade Oil; I must have a look at antiquing fluid.

Fiddly but enjoyable, nice to be able to work sitting down and quietly.

Did you braze the face to the frame?

Yep. I had about a dozen various clamps holding it together and flipped them off as I worked my way round.
