Hi all -
I'm considering importing a Turbine Fed Air Respirator System. Can you give me your views and input please.
It works out much more cost efficient than buying a massive compressor to run my spray gun and air fed mask. Also it means there is no risk of oil contamination - as the turbine system is completely oil free.
It's basically a turbine pump which runs off 240v mains and supplies 6cfm of clean filtered air to 40ft to 60ft of breathing quality hose which has a full face mask and sealed hood on the other end. You just put the turbine pump box well away from the place where you are spraying, i.e. where there is perfectly clean air. Run the hose down to your workshop where you will be spraying, and hey presto - an air fed system without any trouble.
Advantages according to manufacturer:
1. Fully safe for 2k iso paint as the hood covers your whole head and gives positive air pressure
2. Completely independent from your compressor so no worries about breathing in oil
3. 600watts means it costs significantly less to run than a 3000watt compressor!
4. TOTAL cost including everything you need - literally plug in and start spraying 2k is around £350 if I order 5 units. For a single unit because of the shipping cost it would set me back closer to £400.
It sounds too good to be true. What are the draw backs of this over using a traditional compressor, tripple stage coalescent filter, and air fed mask?
If I'm right in thinking for £350 it gives everything you need, then that is way cheaper than a compressor outfit suitable for air fed and spray gun at the same time, and because the turbine is totally oil free it inspires me with a bit more confidence than using my airfed through a traditional oiley compressor.
Other than the fact I have to import it from the USA, there's got to be a catch surely??
Regards,
Jim
