All this talk of gripping pipes thought i'd add a pic of my 8 incher...waay too cute to ignore

As nice as they are, i did consider the weras but this tickled the fancy more

They look slimmer than the traditional type with the thumb wheel.

Only down side I can see is you need a set whereas a normal one does 0- whatever

i have 2 pairs of adjustable that fits everything i use for work now and then and a pair of pipe wrench thats about all i use them, for .anything at home i have proper spanners

I like the concept but also think its a tad bulky to be useful. the only shifter I have come across less bulky which is also slimmer than a spanner of equivalent sizes is the type below, they are slim enough to get at the middle pipes on a spool block.

I think teng make a range like that? I’ve seen electricians use them on the gland nuts inside boxes. Seem to be useful.

Horses for courses. Don’t think there’s one perfect set, like many tools.

I use my shifters a lot. Handy things if you know when is the time and place

i have a pair of gland spanners that do 20mm and 25mm made for the job

True, the smaller sizes on that wera shifter are reasonably priced. Worth taking a punt on one to see how they fair up.

I’ve got one like that and have never had a problem as long as it has space to get to the bolt but they do grip good.

I use my Swedish pipe wrenches alot,

But I I also have spanners up to 55mm and some in-between up to 72mm.

I don't personally use adjustables at all much.

I was tempted to buy a full set... but thinking about it I only really use adjustable for plumbing... and I think they'll have a tendency to squash any tight nut

ok when for heavier stuff, but not much good on a brass plumbing fitting?

I've rounded up to the nearest pound.

They do look nice.
