    Hi,
Newest addition to the garage is this Meddings Pillar drill. Absolutely solid drill.

Was wondering if any of you has any information on this model as in age or model. 20200603_204452.jpg 20200603_204457.jpg 20200521_163817.jpg 20200521_163828.jpg

Well, I've a Newman motor on my 50 year old compressor. Not that that means anything in itself, of course.

If you contact Meddings with the model & serial no they will give you the info on the drill. If you ask they will send a parts list but be sitting down when you see the prices of the spares - very expensive!

Winchboy was given one a couple of years ago buy a good friend who was retiring ready for when he gets his own place, I contacted Meddings for a parts diagram and they told me who bought is new in 1972!
Its currently in my way at the back of the garage!

    I think that's a Meddings Pacera MB4.

A nice drill look after it.

Nice, I'm now suffering from PDE (pillar drill envy).

Looking at the spindle speeds and assuming the chuck is on a morse taper shank it looks like bigger holes could be the order of the day.

Welcome to the forum, Johnny :waving:

Have a look on www.lathes.co.uk - you'll find info about your drill there.

Just noticed the spindle speeds, that drill is fitted with a back gear to give you a low speed range. That's a good find, they are quite sought after!

Just be careful changing gear, I think the big gear inside is made from tufnol & easily damaged if you crunch the gears. Not cheap to replace either but I think I read somewhere that somebody is 3d printing replacements (maybe somewhere on here :dontknow:).
