hi everyone, just signed up after finding this site through the google. The tutorials are really slick and after having a look through the forums, I decided to sign up...

Looking to get into mig welding to eventually build an off road buggy and then a locost. I know it's a long way off but I've got to start somewhere

I have a massive interest in motorcycles and currently ride a suzuki sv650 's'. No doubt I'll be back here often asking how to plug the welder in

Always wanted a SV1000 but legs were too short , got one of the last of the thundercat engined Fazer 600's.

I assume you've signed up on http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk and the Haynes Roadster forum http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/index.php ? If not, why not ?

I only had a few hours practice with a mig before starting on my chassis, and it shows, it's good idea to start with a buggy

Yeah the SV is absolutely brilliant, there's about 9 of us from the sv650 forums out tomorrow heading from the white bear pub upto pateley bridge as for paul the 6th, my birthday is 6th of january and it makes me sound like a king (or a saint)... you decide lol

And yes, the locost seems a great idea but I'm gonna design/build a load of small projects to help hone my skills - trolleys, wheel barrows, tables, then maybe the buggy, then a trailer to carry the buggy then onto the locost in a year or two. The buggy book seems a really good place to start since it is essentially a 4 wheeled petrol engine powered vehicle & therefore a really simple version of what a locost build will entail. It will also allow me to familiarise myself with any unforseen problems.

I'll be using square hollow section as opposed to the round stuff - sod fish mounting, I'll use a mitre to help get those angles right lol
