Hi Guys.
I'm squarely in the 'hobby' welder camp, so humour me here...
I've a sip 150 mig that I've had for years and have always used it on flux cored wire. welds were spattery and hot, but not bad.
I treated myself to a cylinder (hobbyweld argon/CO2) and some 0.6mm wire (lincoln from weldequip), and started playing with it today.
And so I had an odd experience; I can lay down a nice neat bead, decent penetration, with zero spatter, and almost TOTAL silence?! the really odd part is that the wire appears to vapourise about 3-5mm from the metal.
3mm steel plate and angle, with full power and fastish wire speed. Any idea what's going on here?
