I see they are listed at 600mbs but not sure how they arrive at that spec..lol

They seem to have added the two figures for 2.4 GHz and 5.8GHz and added a bit, just to make sure.

Exactly what i thought..lol..not actually seen a USB wifi device before.

There are loads of them, although not many dual brand ones as advertised in the picture

Maybe relevant - I got a 300mb mifi (mobile wifi) last week, basically a 3G/4G sim card with built in wifi to give you internet anywhere there's a mobile signal.
Using it in 3G mode and comparing it to my trusty older 150mb 3G mifi, download/upload speed has seen a huge improvement, my understanding is that is uses 2 channels to more than double the speed.
Download & upload stats : 150mb was 2.7mb/0.7mb, 300mb is normally over 7mb/1.2mb (best from several tests was 12.6mb/1.7mb )

They use several channels to make a single connection to the gateway assuming that the gateway can deliver this type of connection.
Wireless N was I think the first version to do this on 2.4 Ghz with two channels.
