Netto angle grinder broke :(

Needed a grinder today so hunted in the cupboard amongst all the power tools and found another Netto item. Looks like I bought a spare after all
The new Makita can be kept for best - when it arrives.

well I hope you pulled the old one out of the bin for spares

Ha thats the one thing I dont like about them I hate soft start, I dont like having to wait to do a quick touch grind and keep wanting to grind before its up to speed because it takes longer to get up to speed than to do the grind and curse every time!!,
I have disconnected it and put it dol on one. IMO still a good machine for the cost.

That's one of the points I like about the grinder. 1200 watts at full chat is a hell of a torque to control with any kind of weight/rotating mass hanging on to the arbour! Even my 810 watt grinder tries to twist out of my hands and having serious arthritis it can be quite painful at times.

I finally wore out my aldi grinders after only abusing them daily for no more than four years and was shocked that they weren't selling them when I wanted more. So I had to go to lidl instead, who helpfully had variable speed jobs for £20, though I was shocked at having to pay that much as the aldi ones were only £15. In protest, I only bought two, although in the meantime I had already bought a bosch from screwfix for £30, which I like less than the lidl jobs because I hate the stupid thumb switch. The aldi and lidl ones have a proper trigger, just like a full grown 9" job and I much prefer it.

Cheap bicycle spanner might do the job.

Still electrically sound but the spindle lock snapped so not possible to undo the nut and therefore it's gone in the bin.

If all the magic electrical smoke is still present and correct the correct course of action is to take it apart then scrap it!
