Needle Scalers

[Damaged]

Hi all,

Never bought one before, can anybody recommend a quality needle scaler gun?

My limiting factor is my compressor at 15cfm 150 ltr tank (that may be completely wrong but it's the biggest compressor you can run off a 13 amp supply) & it's too bloody cold to go out and check at the moment.

look up cromwell tools catalogue they sell em windy chissel with needle scaler atachment about 55 quid mind u they knock the sh ,./,.,. outa things its got to be reasonably thick metal for scale and rust removal certainly no good for car bodywork they work on about 4cfm consumption

I don't know whether you'd call it quality, but i have a clarke needle gun. I have used it to clean the paint off a large milling machine and lathe with no problems. I also used it to clean off some wrought iron gates before doing a bit of work on them.

It was run for a couple of hours at a time with no probs (apart from the white finger). I was running it off a 14 cfm compressor (50L tank).

Having a compressor that's a bit small means you'll have to stop every now and again for it to catch-up.
Not a bad thing when using a needle gun as it'll also give your arms chance to recover,
and your teeth,
and your eyes,
oh and your ears!

Best if you can find one with several different sets of needles. Pointed ones for heavy work. Rounded ones for lighter more delicate work.

I found that an air chisel is far better for large flakey rust, but don't use on thin materials lol.

I have a clarke needle gun from machine mart reasonable price
I agree that an air chisel is better on larger areas
you can't drink when using one thought
