Needle gun for spatter removal?

Is it successful,does anyone use them for it? I hate spatter and spend a good 10-45 minutes on some jobs ,depending on size and awkwardness for access,I’m confident my welder is adjusted correctly,use the correct gas.
Air ones are cheap,electric are considerably more,I’ve used one for de rusting steelwork successfully,what they’re designed for.

I find 7018 spatter to be larger well fused blobs, hardest to remove.

IIRC someone used a broad bladed sabre saw with the blade ground square at the end to remove plasma cutting crud.. Would that work on spatter with regular dressing of the ground end ???

There is a standard wood chisel type blade, and also a wide TCT-tipped one.

I burnt mine out trying to shape some 10mm thick plastic stock board in a few minutes of light work .

Was just going to post i use this very tool with good results...anti spatter spray or Wd40 stops 90% of it too.

How much spatter are you guys getting?

A flick over with an old file, the occasional lump to knock off with a chisel... should be about it if you're using spatter release spray.

Look at torch angles, weld sequences. These can make a huge difference.

I used to use an air hammer with a needle scaler head for removing slag when stuck welding, it got rid of the majority of the spatter as well.

IC weld on YouTube uses one almost every video but he does mostly stick welding.

If you are getting that much spatter though I'd say something isn't right, I get little to no spatter with mig unless im at a funny angle in a tricky joint but I use copious amounts of anti spatter

I find organic Tuscan olive oil works best…

Welder set up correctly, torch angle correct, weld out of corners not into them, correct weld order, using anti spatter should reduce the amount you get to a minimum.

A wide-blade masonry chisel, ground to a squarish edge knocks off whatever is left pretty quick.

Most of my welding is stick so there's always some spatter. A chisel and a hammer takes care of most of it easily.
I find a needle gun good for removing slag, but not for spatter.

Realized that spatter will be mainly technique and the welder I asked google " what causes spatter when welding ".

Here is the chapter & verse :-

The anti spatter spray I use came from a recommendation here,I think by Gareth ,from Norfolk,it’s helpful but evaporates too quickly for anything more than a stitch,maybe I should switch back to the Fortis or regular like I used to use. It’s more of a problem when the welds are in restricted places for obvious reason.
