i have to ask...what is the normal way of removing this bush?
personally i would avoid any serious messing about buying a welder, then learning to weld, then finding out your method isnt going to work for whatever reason and just buy a cheap 240v die grinder and a long shank carbide burr and grind through top and bottom, then smack them loose with a big hammer and a cold chisel...
i know we dont do the voice of reason on here very often, but learning to stick weld isnt always a simple task for some and then having to produce welds strong enough to withstand a puller on what i imagine will be a fairly poorly fit up joint, its just going to be easier to cut the bush out.
by all means buy a welder and learn to weld, its a great skill to have for numerous applications, but for this application and the fact you are only working with 5mm thickness a die grinder will have that out in less time than it takes you to learn to stike an arc consistently
