need some help with mig welder

I have a 90 amp mig welder and I need to make 2 tac welds on the back of a comercial dryer. The dryer is 110 voltage and is hooked up to natural gas, My question is if I turn off power to the dryer and shut off gas valve can I make this weld? I wasnt sure due to the machine being hooked up to natural gas. The weld I need to make is on the back bottom of machine. Thanks for any info.

There should be no current through the gas line. Make sure you have a good work lead attachment that is close to where you are welding and on the same panel.

I would be more worried about any electronics. Keep the torch/work points close together.

just to confirm that you're not welding anything that might have had gas running through it?

If so it's a different situation...see the threads about welding petrol tanks.

I'd recommend, no I'd insist you turn the gas main off, disconnect the gas pipe and purge it, then bung the end. Disconnection of the electrics would also be a good idea.

If you can, id be inclined to remove whatever part needs welding.... or look at a mechanical fastener, like bolts/screws....
If thats a no go, remove the gas inlet and isolate the electrics.
