Need some help identifying a MIG Welder conection

Afternoon everyone,

A freind of mine has recently upgraded their welder and bought themselves a Lincoln so they handed me down their old welder, it looks to be an old Kennedy MIG 130 and I have yet to test it.

When we spoke about the welder he said that there is a chance the gas line could have a small leak as sometime when he was welding he noticed it would spatter alot but then all of a sudden be fine so he thought it was the gas feed.

So I'm trying to figure out what new trigger gun and cable to buy for it but I am not sure of the connector type as I've never bought one before so was hoping for some advice. I can see the main cable goes into the welder and has a gas line that looks like it attaches but I've searched google and can't seem to find one that looks like it would be a replacement. I've attached photos to help with identifying the connector to the main trigger cable.

normally you get away with a new liner and a tip and all is grand , unless the torch is wrecked , welcome to the forum.

Same as sip - splatter will be down to the poor design - they ain’t the best to be honest

Get some soapy water on it and turn the gas on.

Bubbles means leaks.

Check the regulator, turn the gas off, see how long the pressure remains.

Hi mate, I think a new liner and tip is deffo on the cards but the torch trigger really doesn't move very far at all so I'm thinking it may need to be replaced.

The regulator is a good shout, the one I have doesn't have a guage so I will buy one with a guage so I can pressurise the line then check it about 30 minutes later to see if it stays the same.

The welder probably doesn't have a gas solenoid, and may be a manual version built-into the gun/trigger, which might be leaking; worth testing anyway.

If you don't find a leak, you might just be out of gas.
Be aware those small bottles don't last very long....
So you just might need a new bottle. Or 6.
Or switch to gasless wire - to which most on here would say nooooo !

The ones Halfords sell online say it's 1 litre at 60bar, so 60 litres of gas...

How long do they last?
Not very long at all. A 60L bottle running 10L/min would last for 6 minutes (1m of weld)."

I didn't do any maths, just relayed the figures which halfords and the tutorial have printed....

Even so, I can't see a maths error. I'm not good at maths, I admit - but on the surface it looks ok ?
1 x 60 = 60
60 / 10 = 6

What did I miss?

I noticed the OP's 1st picture shows a "big capacity" 600g bottle from Clarkes - but that's just a distraction...
- why does 6 seem to be a magic number here?

Firstly, with the machine unplugged does pressing the trigger release gas if it does the gas valve is in the gun and those triggers don't move very far.
Disposable regulators are poor and don't last long, but then the bottles don't either. It soon becomes the very expensive option. See the link to compare your local supplier will have similar costs. To be lazy with the maths the disposable one has just over one pound of gas at £23 per the 10lb bottle is only £90 for the first and £51 to swap for the next. You waste a lot changing over on the disposables

Always turn the gas off at the bottle when you stop welding

you missed the bar ,,, that gas is at 60 bar so its 1x6 then x15 for the bar 90 litres then divide by say 8 lpm should get you 11 mins , if you dont do a lot of tacking ,,, twice as long , but if you jam your wire and run into a bit of rust it will vanish ,,, either way its not long ,
