Need some good jump leads

As title, can anyone recommend some that don't fall apart or get hot?
Big enough for Ducato/Transit type vans

Buy some cheap 5mtr 500 amp ones and fit decent clamps on them. It's only the clamps that let the cheap leads down.

50mm2 diameter cable, 4 big clamps. Make your own.

That's what I did. Jumped cars, vans, trucks and trains.

use welders earth cable , its ideal , just as others said get some decent clamps , and error on the long side not too short

I have a set made from electric milk float charging leads that I was given 40 odd years ago, longer than any other jump leads I’ve seen and been used on all sorts of vehicles

mine are arc welder leads as i recognise them now

with really good clamps on them great long distance ones as well

It's a fair point, butI I've had a bad experience where I bought some "400 amp" leads as a cheap way of getting cable. Sold as 16mm sq. Ignoring the optimistic duty cycle uprating, the problem was that they weren't as advertised.

Nice thick cables, but mostly insulation. Cut one to see - 6-8mm sq if that.

If you can (e.g. at the clamp end), see if you can see the actual conductor CSA before buying a set!

Anderson connectors as then can make extensions.

As said above, usually make them now.

ive just used 16mm2 welding cable, not massive but they dont run for very long

I had some home made leads using thick welding cables and the clips on the ends were mole grips bolted to them using crimped lugs no current loss or overheating . there shame someone nicked em .just got a set of good heavy duty ones from halfrauds now that do the job

I bought 800a rated leads off eBay and found they were mostly insulation. Got a refund off eBay and the cables sat here. Decent quality cable is bloody expensive but nobody wants to justify spending £200 on a proper set of jump leads. Chinese ones are utter rubbish, same cables just with varying levels of bravery when it comes to labelling their ratings.
