can anyone tell me what polarity my welders running ? its a cosmo gas 100
have i got negative at the torch or positive ?

As it is a "gas" model. it will come wired for torch positive.

thanks, thought it was strange that a red wire goes to the clamp, do you know if its wasy to change on this type ?

Its possible that someone has tried changing the polarity at some point so they can use gasless fluxed wire?

Yes, release wire feed roller tension (so it does not feed wire). Then, with meter on DC Volts, one probe on torch tip, other on work clamp. You should get 20-40 volts or so. The meter will tell you the polarity.
