Need part making or rough price

I need to get a flange made as per the pic below.

Thickness of plate is not critical but prob best in the 13mm to 22mm range.

Just in bog standard steel that can be migged with standard wire.

Have I got the distances between the holes / PCD right with 121mm across the center & 61mm between adjacent holes? Its the closest I could measure it using a tape.

The 160mm is also not critical & can be smaller or larger as long as its got enough "meat" around the holes.

Can any one make me one ASAP & post?

If not rough prices for getting a local place to make one up.

Thats probably a standard flange , when I get home I'll check in my flange tables.If it is you will be able to buy one for a few quid from a pipe & fittings supplier.

With a PCD of 121mm that give me a circumference of 380mm. With 6 holes / spacings that should be 63.33mm between centres & I measure it at 61mm (but looks closer to 60.5mm).

Even at 60mm centers The PCD should be 114.5mm not 121mm.

Using the holes size (16mm) & measuring from the hole edge the PCD is 120mm & the between centers 59mm.

I must be calc ing it wrong.

Might be easiest to spec M16 holes & use M12 bolts.

I've just drawn your flange up in AutoCAD and whether I use 120, 121 or 122mm PCD, the distance between adjacent hole centres is exactly half the PCD (60, 60.5 or 61mm)... so decide what the PCD is and the rest should follow!

What does look odd to me is that the PCD you quote places the holes rather close to the centre of your 160mm diameter, ie unless the pipe it was welded to had a very thin wall, there wouldn't be room to get the bolts in...! However your sketch shows the holes more in the relative position to the outside diameter that I would expect to see. Strange, wonder if I'm doing it wrong

After a bit of messing the PCD is 120mm & the gaps 60mm.

The pipe will be inside the 91mm hole.
(so it can be welded inside & out for strength)

I make it that there should be about 10mm between the edge of the hole (now its M16) & the pipe wall. The bolt heads might need trimming to fit due to the weld fillet & the nuts fitted on the other side.

What are you talking about?

If you have 6 holes, equally spaced they are 60 degrees apart, and the other two angles between the radials and the line through the hole centres are equal. You've got 120 degrees left to make up the triangle, halve it and those corners are 60 degrees too.

So, an equilateral triangle. Which means that all three sides are the same length too. Since the two sides that cross at the centre are equal to the radius of the Pitch circle, the distance between centres for the bolt holes is half the PCD.

So, 60.5mm hole centres, double it, 121mm PCD.

Yes 6 divisions of a circle will be 60 deg each.

I was trying to see why the physical measurements did not match the theoretical dimensions. As a way of confirming that the physical measurements were correct.

Any way I know know why its different.

My real measurement, measure the straight line point between the two hole centres. The pcd spacing calc using pi measures it the long curved way round the pcd circle. That will explain the difference.

Sorry yes the 380 was for the 121mm the original measurement was.
So 121 x 3.14159265 = 380.13271065mm

So now its 120mm x 3.14159265 = 376.991118 div 6 = 62.831853mm

So close to the 60mm straight line measurement.

It's not a BS , ASA or DIN standard flange. Principally because it is a 6 bolt flange , non of these standards have 6 bolt , only 4 , 8 , 12 and so on. BS , ASA & DIN are the main standards for pipe flanges , so this is either a special or an unusual type.
What is it off ?

I have bought a hydraulic motor that has that as its drive flange. I also have an auger that has no flange. I want to weld this part onto the shaft of the auger to mate it to the motor (well gearbox to be exact).

Now it makes sense , it's a mechanical coupling flange not a pipe flange !!
I don't have any direct experience there but I guess that a company dealing in power drives would be able to help.

Its a drive plate for an auger fitting to a hydraulic motor / gearbox. The central hole is just so I can weld up the inside & outside for strength. The drive tube will be put about half to 3/4's of the way through the plate. The plate will be 20mm & the wall of the drive tube on the auger is about 15mm. As I only have a 210amp mig I need all the tips & tricks to get a good strong weld. I went for a 95mm hole so will have 2.5mm gap all round to weld into. With a bigger welder I would have just welded up the outside to a flat plate.


Hoping to get the plate some time on Thursday. Will post picks of the job when I do it.

This is what I needed that bit for.

I bought a hydraulic motor & gearbox & an extra long auger that used to be for putting telegraph pole in. I had to cut the auger shorter by about 3 foot just to get it in the boot of the car. I then needed to get this made up

The local place charged me £40 which I though was a bargain for both bits.

The ring fits over the shaft of the auger so that the shaft (90mm x 15mm wall tube) ends half way through the 20mm thick plate. I could then weld up the inside & outside for extra strength. I also needed to remove some of the screw so that the bolts would fit. After that is was a simple job to bolt the two bits together, buy the hydraulic hoses & connectors & fit it all together.
