Yeh I need to get a blade on mine if I can get it going again the string was struggling with the stuff I was doing the other dayCan't remember the make but it wasn't anything I recognised - looking on Amazon there are lots of makes using a generic engine.
One thing that helped a lot on both my machines was a blade with vertical tips, it cuts & shreds so less to tidy up.
I use something like this (but mine doesn't have a Stihl sticker on it)

The attachements are compatable for both?
Would you mind looking and measuring what spline or square drive the makita uses? I'm very tempted to get the LXT motor unit tho I'm quite happy with my existing attachements for now.

Hi just info - I found some handy info on a spares site, photos were a big help when I was ordering parts.
It looks like there are at least 2 different diameter shafts, also count the number of splines.

Part arrived and is a limited success
New handle is too small for tube but got it jammed on without the safety release
Main problem is cord is far too long
Wrapped it found tube to test it worked which it does but the turns are putting a lot of resistance on the trigger
Maybe cut off the end shorten and resolver?

Yeh so I measured tube before buying at 26mm new one seems to be a bit narrower despite being advertised at 26
I think it's so long cause it's made for the big bull handles of a brushcutter to run right down whereas mine just has loop handle

Odd, I have a couple of trigger units that I swap between a D-handle and cowhorn bars on a brush cutter.
The cable has slack when on the D-handle but nothing like the extra yours has.
Rather than cutting the new throttle cable, can you use the throttle cable from your old broken handle? The ones I have seem to have standard ends.
If you cut the extra off your new cable you could use a screw-on fitting to remake the end https://search.brave.com/images?q=brake+cable+nipple+solderless

Went during lunch to look at stihl kombi might grab one on Saturday and try repair parkside as a back up as I really need to gwt out in yard on Saturday and stihl should be reliable and parts easy to get for years
